Love Hate Relationship

(Sorry.......I wrote this post last week sometime and never got around to publishing it. Nevertheless, enjoy.)

As you probably already know, I am back from NYC. I know, but.....while I was there, I had no time to blog. Sorry!! Nevertheless, I am here to update you on my trip. Now, despite the circumstances (the funeral), the overall trip was pretty good. I had fun. I met tons of Alex's family members, all of which were very nice.
On our way to Jersey and N.Y.C in the background

Now let's see, where shall I start? Well, I got to take the N.Y.C metro. I hated it!! It was scary. I just felt like it was very unsafe and anything could pop off at any given point in time. I guess it takes awhile to get use to. It was definitely nothing like the train system in Japan. However, there was one good thing, the trains weren't as crowded as the ones in Japan.
So, tell me why...................Alex and I are on the train and this guy, on the other end, has a t'shirt full of SOMETHING!!! YES SOMETHING!! Not to mention, there's quite a bit of commotion down that end of the train also. So, the guy decides he wants to walk up to our end of the train, with this t'shirt full of "SOMETHING". Now, as the guy proceeds towards us, he is stumbling and crashing into folks and talking to whatever is inside this t'shirt. At this point, Alex and I are looking at each other like, "What the hell?" Well. (And yes I did just put a period after "Well") Low and behold, it's a t'shirt full of FREAKING SNAKES!! I NEARLY DIED!! OH YES. SNAKES!!! (Well, honestly I don't know if it was more than one snake or not, but he was carrying it like it was either (a.) A Big Snake or (b.) Tons of snakes. I guess it really doesn't matter. He had a SNAKE on the subway. Who does that?!)

After this experience I realized  New York and I could never work out. Vacation? Yes. Living? No. So, after all of this I came up with a my top 10 reason why, I could never live in NYC.....

Reason #1- Very dirty. Trash and sanitation is ridiculous....

Reason #2- Waaaayyy too many homeless people. What the hell is their government doing or not doing? Get these folks in a shelter.

Reason # 3- I couldn't figure out if I was in the hood or not. Everything looked a little ghetto-ish to me. Sorry New Yorkers!!

Reason #4- The roads are absolutely horrible

Reason # 5- Everyone looks angry. Okay, maybe not everyone, but the majority. Can you blame them though?

Reason #6- Cost of living is waaayyy too high.

Reason # 7- I felt unsafe and safety is on the top of my priority list.

Reason #8- From what I've heard, rats are a big problem and rats and I could never cohabitate. Sorry!!

Reason #9- Too much noise. When I go home, I want to go home to peace and quiet. Not boom boom booming coming from a party down the street.

Reason #10- Would never feel like home.

Okay. So yes, I may have been a little over the top, just an incy wincy bit with my list. However, this is strictly my opinion, I  know that New York is for some people. JUST NOT FOR ME!!  For instance, my best friend loves N.Y.C. Now, like I said before, I can visit N.Y.C, but I can't live in N.Y.C.  I will definitely visit my BF when she moves out there, but that will be all I'll be doing.

I think it takes a certain type of character to live there. Maybe, it's not even a certain character, but you have to have some type of purpose to want to live there. I feel like people who aspire to move to New York, it's because they have a personal mission or a goal they have to achieve. Because it's definitely not a place you can look at and say, "This is home". However, I could be wrong, BUT I'm entitled to my opinion, right?

Sincerely Me

  1. Lol! You're right... It's your opinion and besides, you shouldn't have to apologize for that. But I do understand that there are lots of cons for NYC. It isn't exactly where we come from--less filth, ghettos, etc.
