The Realization

As you know, I am currently reading "The Strawberry Letter" by Shirley Strawberry. I'm actually enjoying the book. Can you believe I'm already more than halfway finished!! It's definitely one of those books that's hard to put down because you're itching to know what the other chapters to follow are going to be about.

Have you ever read a book and found yourself already knowing a lot of what the author is telling you? "The Strawberry Letter" is one of those books. A lot of what Shirley talks about are things that we should already know. However, I think we get so consumed with our everyday busy schedules, life lessons drift away from the forefront of our minds. With that being said, it's good to read books such as this one, to remind us of things like the following:

"If we don't take the time to make a self assessment and look back at our situation, then we're destined to repeat those exact mistakes, but it's not when you learn the lesson, it's just that you learn the lesson before you die and learning is an ongoing process."

"Let your fears motivate you to try new things"

"Looks, money, and material things alone don't bring happiness or guarantee a healthy successful relationship."

"A man can only do to us what we allow."

"If god blesses you with another day, it's another day to make things right."

"Love and communication are the keys to making any family work."

"Release your past in order to raise your children to be confident today and to know their power in the future."

"At some point, in this journey we call life, we have to get to know ourselves better, our likes, our dislikes, who we are, what we can tolerate, what we can't, what others can or won't put up with etc., you've got do some deep thinking and go into prayer. You've got to talk to God and read his word. You've got to talk to and be around people you like and who share common interest with you. The goal, is to keep the M.B.S, Mind, Body, and Spirit in sync."
