Fear

"What are you putting off out of fear? Usually, what we most fear doing is what we most need to do. That phone call, that conversation, whatever the action might be – it is fear of unknown outcomes that prevents us from doing what we need to do. Define worst case, accept it, and do it. I’ll repeat something you might consider tattooing on your forehead: What we fear doing most is usually what we most need to do. As I have heard said, a person’s success in life can usually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he or she is willing to have. Resolve to do one thing every day that you fear. I got into this habit by attempting to contact celebrities and famous business people for advice"
Timothy Ferris, from the book The 4-Hour Workweek.

More Challenges Less There is to Fear.

Today, while reading my Essence Magazine (Yes, I'm an issue behind), I was so excited to read about the mounds of black women doing profound things for themselves and this country. It hit me at that very moment, how much I would love to be one of those women. One that leaves behind a legacy for all to see and remember. I wanna be that POWERFUL, SUCCESSFUL, BLACK WOMAN that inspires others to want more from life. I wonder though, is it possible to be one of those women living here? I'm sure it is. However, it seems as though, there aren't as many opportunities here, as there are in bigger cities. Hmm.........

Despite my major set backs this year, I refuse to let anything steer me away from my goals. I've come to realize, obstacles and challenges in life are necessary. WAIT!!! I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING!! "Yeah right!!" Well, we have to start looking at difficult times as opportunities (Yep, I said it!), opportunities to improve who we are as a person. No one said life would be easy.

In any case, I honestly believe that God has something big in-store for me. I am also a strong believer that EVERYTHING, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING happens for a reason. With that being said, I can say that I have definitely learned A LOT in these past few months.

I know in my heart that I am destined for greatness. I expect nothing less from myself. God put me on this Earth for a reason and I plan on making full use of this opportunity. I refuse to settle for just anything in life. I want more and expect more from myself. I've......... Got.......To........... MAKE...... IT!! I have no other option. Whatever is next for me, only God knows, but I am Ready!!  Because I have tons I want to do and accomplish in life.

See you at the TOP my readers!!!

P.S. Don't be afraid to hold yourself to a high standard of self worth, and let life take care of the rest.

And so the Journey Begins..

Lately ( for about 3 months),  I have been doing tons and tons of research on hair/hair products. I am very interested in the process it takes to retain length and maintain healthy hair. With that being said, I have decided to go on a HAIR JOURNEY........ YEP, A HAIR JOURNEY!! I am really excited and I am anticipating great results within a year. After much research and seeing other ladies progress, I am convinced it's time for me to start my own healthy hair regimen.

Bra Strap Length (BSL)
My goal is to have Bra Strap Length (BSL) hair by next year this time. I know for a fact, I have not been doing all that it takes to maintain my hair and unfortunately my hair has suffered tremendously this year. As a result, I am starting a strict regimen to combat this issue. From hair here on out, I will probably be posting quite a bit on my "Hair Journey" and updating you on my progress.

Currently, I am about 2 1/2 months post my relaxer. I plan on stretching this relaxer out for about 6 months. WHEW! I know! Seriously though, my hair can usually go without a relaxer for months, so I think I can manage. However, still keep your fingers crossed lol!! Now, the main reason for stretching my relaxer out is to use less harsh chemicals on my hair and to increase the thickness of my strands. Anyway, as my journey to BSL continues, I promise to keep you posted.

My Regimen
(In my next post, I will go over what all this means. I feel sleepy tonight and can't be bothered. Sorry.)
  • 1x/week (Sunday or Monday) Pre-poo my hair
  •
  • 1-2x/month Clarify
  •
  • 1x/week (Monday) Shampoo (Sulfate Free)
  •
  • 2x/week (Monday & Thursday) Deep Condition (DC)
  •
  • 1/week (Thursday) Co-wash

  • Daily Moisturize and seal hair in sections

  • 1-2x/month Protein treatment
  •
  • Baggy hair whenever I am at home
  •
  • Air dry hair
  •
  • Leave in Conditioner after every wash

I know this may sound confusing and like I am doing a lot to my hair, but honestly it's not. I will go into more details in my next post.

*Sincerely Me*
